Getting your business online requires more than just a website and some SEO, and if you already have a business but your website does nothing to generate any sales – you need to hear this as well.
I put together a short video that deals with the business owners I encounter who are looking for me to ‘fix’ their website for them. They’ve gotten it into their head that a little SEO magic here and there will get them on the first page of Google and then the money will start rolling in.
I hate to break it to these people, but SEO, Social Media and having a website has got nothing on having a real business model and a marketing plan. Let me dispel a couple of myths that frequently appear when I talk to certain business owners:
- Getting to number one on Google for a particular keyword is not a business plan
- Having a website doesn’t mean you have a business
- SEO isn’t a one-time event (hint – it’s a marathon, not a sprint!).
